Comments on: Nice to see Extra flags flying, as N&W 2708, 2915 heads westbound, as seen from the Wilhelm Road overpass. Hard to believe it has been 40 years. That is “CN Robbins” in the distance.

Kevin:not the Caso. It could have used the shared track two in the triple track welland canal diversion tunnel though.

James Yes. But remember prior to 1974 that pictured was the cayuga sub (From Black Rock) and the wabash/N&W/NS had rights on the welland cayuga and chatham subs. Cayuga was Black Rock to st thomas, chatham sub was st thomas to walkerville and welland branched off cayuga and ran thru welland to niagara falls. What I don't know is if they used rights over the whirlpool bridge or not but I do believe they went into NF yard implying they had rights on a small segment of the Grimsby too in the old days. NS 445 kept going Buffalo to NF until 2005 or so....

Over the years realignments happened, the stamford was created combining new diversion tracks and the welland sub into one. The payne was created when they realigned the Chatham sub to london but ns retained rights on all the old lines they once had.

Ns even had rights to Delhi on the St Thomas and Eastern but interchanged with st&e in st thomas instead. In 2006 NS gave it all up.

Have to put a call out to Mr. Mercer!!! BEM'r !! Are you there?
He's the authority on this stuff, and I do not want to guess.

BTW: The date is correct.
We often had snow later in the season back then.

Very classic! Would this train take the CASO by chance? Also, must have had a big snowstorm - the date is Apr. 10 :o
