The AC 105 was used to provide HEP to the Superliner and the Superliner was for crew accommodations, behind that was the regular TEST cars (grey). The idea I think was to have one crew on duty and one crew off duty so it can test 24/7 without having to put crews in hotels, etc, but I could be wrong. (This would be the TEST crews, the head end crew was supplied in the usual manner but considering they can order them anytime, it allows continuous testing, by my math) The train went far and fast (all the way out east) but the motive power borfed not long after this day and was substituted with a new leader and the 105 trailed. Either way it only happened once. It was a test train.
