Comments on: On March 4, 1962 CN and the UCRS sponsored an excursion between Toronto and Niagara Falls. Here we see the train at Aldershot–note the station building with train order signals on the north side of the tracks (it was still movement by signal indication Rule 251 territory–ABS in 1962) and the cold storage building on the south side of the train. Viewed from today’s perspective, it seems amazing that enthusiasts and the general public would be allowed all over a “live” railway back then.

Being moved yet again in Guelph. For gosh sake, put her behind a fence and illuminate her. Better still, rebuild her for operation along the CNR system. This is a gorgeous locomotive.

My bad, I was looking at the siding going toward the station and the semaphore. I thought the train was on the south track.

How can you say it's moving Against the Current of Traffic ? He's on the North main and yes he's headed west. Perfectly normal.

What I don't understand is, how is the sun on the north side in March unless this is very very late in the day ??? In which case, perhaps the excursion was NRHS and he was roundtrip FROM Niagara Falls/Ft Erie to Toronto and back ??

Fantastic image! It’s hard to imagine all of this today considering how much the area has changed.

Awesome shot and yes the railfans are in crazy places in this pic, including on top of a freight car!
Even though the train moving westward in ABS its moving against the "current of traffic" as we called it then. They had special rules for running this side of the track.
