Comments on: On May 19, 1974 CN had a huge freight derailment about a mile east of Bowmanville. Both main lines of the Kingston Sub. were blocked and several trains detoured on CP over the next couple of days. Here we see westbound Turbo 129 on one year old welded rail at mile 163.9 of CP’s Belleville Sub. This view from my yard is now almost blocked by trees.

yes! Nice capture Doug! That evening, We – LLL group – at Leaside, witnessed the westbound Turbo on the Belleville Sub and onto the Don Branch….really something!
[gotta wonder that something is seriously wrong with today's VIA, if reroutes were do-able then...]

Very nice. I’d be curious if anyone knows the fuel consumption of these gas turbine beasts. I suspect they wouldn’t last long in today’s high fuel prices..
