Comments on: On this sunny day, I dang near killed myself trying to photograph this surprise. Ex-CN, now RMPX 9431 (now part of the Southern Ontario Railway fleet), pulled a short six car mixed freight south through Hagersville. I first caught glimpse of this freight on 1st Line, pulling out from a gas station. I was so excited when I grabbed my camera, that I forgot to pay attention to traffic and almost veered completely into the opposing lane. After re-composing myself and following this train to the south end of town, I caught both conductors disembarking the locomotive at the County Road 9 crossing. They were preparing to drop the six mixed cars into the siding.

Brad it was usually a short day. Crew typically on duty around lunch and would be done by 6 at the latest most days.

I should also add, this job has since been abolished with new G&W ownership and the night freight 597 now does all the work 596 once did.

Neat shot Todd, this was train 596. It was the Monday-Friday job that would work out of Hagersville working the industries between Hagersville and Caledonia. The move you are seeing is them finishing their day. The cars would be left there for 597 to lift and take to Paris. The locomotive would be tied down by the old station in Hagersville.

9431 is now on the GEXR as locomotive 3030.
