Comments on: One for James Knott and the Hamilton goons. Some young fans today might think – foreign power! This was not foreign. It was Norfolk Southern crew on a Norfolk Southern train in Canada and they ran two trains per day to/from St. Thomas and Buffalo along with the NS 445/369 (NF/Fort Erie transfer which still runs today). I wish I paid closer attention to the NS trains back then but context validates why we didn’t: Things were just too good elsewhere along with the fact despite the power overnighting in St. Thomas we didn’t always know what was coming – information wasn’t as free flowing as it is today. Besides this was just another mundane NS GE – this was the way it was on half the NS trains in Canada and GE’s were as boring then as they remain today. The typical game plan was to get trackside for NS (by 0800 in Hamilton as they ran *early* out of St. Thomas) then go find CN or CP as it were afterwards – there was always something good coming just around the corner.
Time is 0837 so you can see why we had to get somewhere early…

There are many 328s that I caught at Copetown early a.m. that I now wish I had chased down the Grimsby Sub. somewhere. Much nicer sun angle as illustrated here!
