The red cabs on all units came with the striped paint scheme that was introduced with the M420s in 1973(?). Black cabs were standard on all units from the introduction of the “CN” black/red ends scheme beginning in 1961.

Interesting how the cab side is black on 1227. I thought the 1200′s in the new scheme with spark arrestors had Orange sides. Then they revereted to the normal stacks with the black cabs.
