Thanks for the comments guys!! Also note the handrails are straight on the end units and bent(angled) on the middle two.
One thing was common on all four units: they were good engines!!

Getting even more particular, the cooling pipes from the compressor, over top of the main reservoirs, the front and back units have an extra loop in them compared to the 2 in the middle. Plus, the 1212 has the funkier style number board on the front.

Depends on who painted the units: morning shift-afternoon shift-morning shift-afternoon shift. Still fresh in the morning, but tired in the afternoon.
Same with the cab numbers;Hi-Hi-Hi-Lo.
I hated those 1300s as they had vertical steps which made it much harder to get on and off.
