Comments on: One of those rare instances where Algoma Central power made it to Orangeville and Owen Sound: ACR GP7 154, one of two units leased to CP for a few months in 1978-1979, was typically used by CP on roadswitchers, transfers and local jobs in and around the Toronto area. Today however, 154 found itself working The Moonlight northbound on CP’s Orangeville/Owen Sound Subs. The unit is seen framed between the Farmers Co-Op and Rundles Feed Mill (Shur-Gain) elevators at Dundalk, after having uncoupling its train and backing to lift a single hopper from the Co-Op “coal pile” siding as the crew watches on. From the few other photos I’ve seen from this outing, the unit ran a plow extra southbound the next day.

The tracks were lifted through Dundalk in the mid-90′s when the Owen Sound Sub north of Orangeville was abandoned, but the elevator on the left survives today. On the site of the other elevator? A very railway station-esque building housing the Southgate Ruth Hargrave Memorial Public Library.
