Comments on: One thing I really miss is the small-time transfers we used to see so many of around the Burlington-Hamilton area. The big freights with their repetitious ACs seem so impersonal. Hamilton-bound down the grade toward Bayview, on approach to the old Snake Rd bridge is one of those little wayfreights; the once-common SW1200RS, this one #1388, followed by a rather rare (only 8 built) Sweep 7106 with 5 boxcars and a van in tow. The “Sweep” is actually a thingumabob resulting from the mating of an SW1200 with a GP. The 8 in total were of GMD/CN remanufacture in 1985-87 and retired by 2000.

Interesting 1388 has the newest scheme but with spark arrestors suggesting before the rebuild program.

@stephen I believe this transfer was from Aldershot to Stuart yard just like the transfer from Aldershot to Oakville.

I love working the “sweeps”. They were fun to operate. Great little pullers in the yard. A bit “slippery” on the main with a heavy train, but unique for sure
