Comments on: One thing nice about the BCR along this stretch of track is that they sent a hiRail vehicle out ahead of the trains. This, I was given a heads up of any movement. I think this photo gives a good idea of why they used this procedure. Several years ago, they had a train hit a rock slide that killed the crew (I think), and they sent a locomotive to the depths.
