Comments on: Operating on a fantrip, TTC Peter Witt streetcar 2884 makes a stop over at Bedford Loop, just off Bedford Road north of Bloor Street West. Streetcar service at Bedford Loop (and on most of Bloor) would end a year and change later with the opening of the Bloor-Danforth Subway (the Bedford entrance of St. George Station, already built, can be seen on the left). There are other photos of the Victorian houses in the background with greek symbols, leading one to believe they may have been fraternity houses for the nearby University of Toronto at some point. By February 1966, they would be demolished for some low-rise commercial buildings (and in 2007, them and the nearby buildings along Bloor would be demolished for a new condo). TTC 2884, built by Ottawa Car Company in 1923, would be retired in early January 1965 and sold for scrap. Robert D. McMann photo, Dan Dell’Unto collection slide.
