Comments on: OSR’s St Thomas Job has finished departing Putnam after switching a local propane supplier in the town. The 3 of us chased it down it’s straight run to St Thomas where the train will switch out the TTX boxcars on the head end at Messenger Freight then go on back to Ingersoll within the hour. The K3 horn from the ex SOO GP7 shattered the area as the engineer starting blowing for the crossing about 500 meters past the Highway 401 bridge. It was overall a gloomy day to chase OSR but this shot and a few others would’ve been in pretty harsh backlight if it wasn’t for the clouds. The Cayuga Clipper was already out of St Thomas at this point which we chased after this train started proceeding north back to Ingersoll meeting up with more of the guys on the way in the late afternoon. For me anyway, it’s good to grab lots of shots of runs that don’t occur daily at all as you know their day’s aren’t numbered, but their future isn’t as stable as something you would see on a class one rail line. OSR is rumoured to be ceasing operations down the Cayuga Sub at the end of the month so ignoring the lighting conditions, I’m glad we all had a good chase for something that is soon to be abolished quickly.
