Comments on: PC Derrick 50125 is re railing eastbound C&O derailed on track 2 of the PC Yard. This was the first time it was used after its arrival in Canada and rebuilding in St Thomas MCRR Shops. Track in foreground is CPR St Thomas Sub connection to Penn Central.

As a matter of interest, the CP St. Thomas Sub track in the foreground that Larry mentions, was referred to in CP Employee timetable footnotes as “The Credit Main”, at least into the mid 1980s. This is a throwback to the Credit Valley Railway origin of the line. The note describes protection crews required when running against the current of traffic on Penn Central westward track to “the Credit Main”.

I was Fireman on this for a couple of wrecks and have the Whistle in my collection. I see the Builders plate is missing in your photo in the Reclaim Yard. Missed out on that.

Great photo of a classic piece of equipment. Unfortunately for this Industrial Works 160 ton wrecker built in the early 1900′s,18 years (to the month) of use and neglect took its toll on the extensive refurbishment of the 50125 as evidenced in my April 1991 shot as it sits at CN’s London reclamation yard waiting its turn to be torched.
