Comments on: PC Ron Parker gives a wave to Engineman Frank Bunker as the 1057 has just passed under Elgin Street, Bowmanville on June 22/74. At this time 1057 belonged to the Ontario Rail Foundation and was leased to the Bytown Railway Society in Ottawa along with the coaches lettered ‘Credit Valley’. The National Museum of Science and Technology organized and administered the Wakefield steam trips with Bytown Railway Society providing operating and maintenance assistance. They used 1057 for the summers of 1973 to 1975 while 1201 was being rebuilt. The ORF purchased 1057 from Herb Hanson of Chicago in 1972. The equipment moves from Toronto to Ottawa were one-way fan trips. Thanks to Bruce Chapman, John Mellow and Earl Roberts for some of these details.

Great shot, but some of the caption dates are wrong. In summer 1973, #1957 was still tied up in shooting the CBC's mini-series "The National Dream", based on Pierre Berton's book of the same title.

The trip to Ottawa for the BRS/NMS&T was on 29 June 1975. Some friends and I chased her to Ottawa on the Saturday of the Dominion Day/Canada Day weekend that year. The following June, although perhaps a week or so earlier, #1201 made the trip to Ottawa to replace #1057 on the Ottawa-Wakefield runs. Unfortunately for steam fans, from Agincourt Yard on, #1201 had to push a red and white F-unit with its nose door open all the way to Ottawa. We chased that trip only part of the way.

By the way the smoke is lying back they are moving right along. 1057 made the last revenue steam run on this line as an extra west on April 16, 1960. They stopped for water at Bowmanville from 7:27 am to 7:36 am.
