Comments on: Perhaps one of the most boring railway photos I have taken, this is a view from the BC Ferries road causeway at Tsawwassen northwestward to the rail-and-road causeway to the Westshore Terminals export coal terminal at Roberts Bank, and is notable for being in the early years (1972-05-30, so 25 months to the day) of operation there, and for showing an entire CP coal train with two MLW M-630s leading, then 39 cars plus two units with a robot car, then 49 more cars and a caboose, all stretched out on the single track after exiting the dumper loop. Amazing for the time, 88 cars in one train! This is from the second roll of Kodachrome in my two-weeks-old Pentax Spotmatic camera, another amazing advance at that time.

In those early years, the entire causeway was off limits to railfans and the general public, with a gatehouse at the east (shore) end, so the specific equipment identity is unknown.

Now that is remarkable. Great job. Those old Pentax were really something back in their day. A lot of fans do not realize how limited we were using them, fixed lens and short telephotos compared to todays fancy machines. And they weren't cheap, either.
