Comments on: Port Robinson… Not a location I particularly like, but find myself here all too often as this is where the trains are in Niagara, even if they may not be moving. CN 5703, one of the small noodle SD75I’s, sits on what would be classified as the mainline bypass track about eight years ago. Things have changed though, and much of the traffic that used to pass through here is gone. This is currently CN’s only interchange yard in Niagara. Southern Yard in Welland and Fort Erie yard act as temporary storage yards, and for transfers. Having the brunt of Niagara’s traffic shoved into one yard clearly doesn’t seem to mean much, as the yard is rarely full. However, CN 330 is at the opposite end of the yard, and 530 has yet to return with traffic from Buffalo. Once everything is settled around 11pm, the yard should be relatively full momentarily before 330′s traffic leaves as 539 for Buffalo. Since the yard has no through traffic anymore besides the odd CN 232, CN often doesn’t bother using the engine track where CN 2033 sits.

Lol. Even though I was on a level crossing, I did have the fear in the back of my mind. More so that the gates would start going down while I was on the crossing, which always makes my heart skip a beat!
