Comments on: Pride of the fleet – someone took the time to wipe off the number boards on the front of 8782 and the side of the cab, and cleaned the windows but 8782 is just covered in oil otherwise. Almost looking like some kind of stealth paint scheme, Marcus posted a nice shot but the Conductors side has much more oil. I wouldn’t say 2021 is off to a good start based on this… but it’s certainly interesting. Water would evaporate eventually unless it freezes with coal dust.... and stays frozen othereise it would wash off in rain and streak. I've seen pix of this before and usually this would have been a trailing engine when a major malfunction of a unit ahead spews oil out the stack.. for an entire trip, corrections welcome Coal dust would wash off in rain.
