Comments on: Prior to the start of GO service to Georgetown in late April 1974, GO GP40-2LWs were broken in on CN freight trains. Here we have the 9808 and 9809 accompanied by CN RS18 3708 on an eastbound to Toronto Yard. GO’s first seven GP40-2LWs were renumbered into the 700 series in the mid-1970s. The 9808 and 9809 were sold to CN in 1991 and assigned numbers 9668 and 9669.

I stand "self corrected", we had the wide cab SD-40-2 9000 series by then, but I had not been in one as of that time.

back in the early 1990s, I was selected to be Conductor on an Operation Lifesaver special that ran on CP from Quebec Street to Union Station. I'm almost certain that the lead unit for that trip on CP was CN 9669. I'd never been in the cab of a newer wide cab, since we didn't have any at that time. There were a couple of CP officials & a CP Police officer crammed into that lead unit, so I didn't get much chance to enjoy the ride.

Nice photo with the units and the open side tri-levels. Looks like Lower Base Line Road. (43.450403, -79.825865)

I'm surprised by the "Union" sign on the front platform shield. I didn't think they lasted that long.
