Comments on: Pulling out of Union Station in downtown Toronto, CN’s eastbound “Lake Shore Limited” departs from Track 2 with an A-B-A set of cowl units providing the power today. CN FPA4 6774, F9B 6620, and FPA4 678? start off the journey with some white smoke, after idling awaiting their departure time. CP Rail’s (CP Hotels) Royal York Hotel can be seen prominently in the background across from the main Union Station building, with the Dominion Public Building on the right, almost all matching in colour. Behind the train are the old CP Express sheds (eventually demolished for the 2000′s GO Transit bus terminal). One of the striking new black TD towers can be seen, the Toronto skyline not yet populated with a wall of office towers and high rises. That “Spans the World” Bank of Montreal billboard on top of the CP Express building is reminiscent of a similar old CP slogan from the 1940′s-50′s.
