Comments on: Quno-1, the former CN 7212, is seen working a cut of cars for what was Resolute Forest Products at the point of its shutdown. This huge newsprint mill was put on “indefinite idle” in March of 2017 after having sent most of its workers home Dec 2016. Newsprint usage was down 70% over the years as fewer newspapers are bought and read.
Times change. The locomotive is shoving a long line of wood cars into the plant.
This activity was not easy to photograph. Train movements were very irregular.

This is great. BTW, my last drive by last weekend, the railway line north of Hayes Dana has had all crossing flashers removed. Just crossbucks. Also very overgrown. Zero activity.

Still staff on site in the building though...

all 3 locomotives are still there.

One (#2) is a parts source and no longer runs.

Docta this is the original alignment of the welland railway built 1859. Severed when the welland canal was built in 30's

I like the bridge or culvert in your picture.
It looks like it was built a long time ago.
Is it still there?

I find this GREAT news that some life is coming back to some of the plant. As far as I can recall there were at least 2 switchers in storage at the back; indoors of course, end of steel, you could say.
But only hearsay. They could have long moved out and no one noticed.

Good to hear the place is operational under new owners. Did the RFP locomotives leave the plant after shut down?
