They knew it was being set off at Galt, so better to have it trailing & get paid at Lambton for switching it out there. It was always preferred to make stops enroute once running off miles, as short as possible. For those unaware, years ago, crews were paid on the minute basis in the terminal & then their run miles between terminals. Example, at Quebec Street we were paid by the minute from time on duty to time we reached the outer main track switch at Quebec St then got 102 miles between there & reaching Mile 10 west of Kipling, then we went back onto & being paid by the minute until off duty at Agincourt Toronto Yard. We were paid the same for that 102 miles whether it took 4 hours or 8 hours. They likely switched the 8161 out at Lambton while making a lift.
