Comments on: Remanufactured GP9u units CP 8239 and CP 8207 bracket a leased ex-UP SD40 HLCX 3015 in this February 1994 scene at Kinnear yard. Three of the head-end boxcars of this southbound train have Conrail markings. Fresh snow does not make the ascent of the Niagara Escarpment to Vinemount any easier.

Agreed, Jason – 526 in this era was parts (empties) from Oshawa to CR at Niagara Falls NY.

Riiiiight…. and now that I think about it.. I wonder if the parts cars I would see on ham turn in the early 2000′s (2005 ish) were for TDS automotive in Tillsonburg..

From doing some quick research it would appear that 526 was a train that exercised trackage rights on the CN Oakville Subdivision between Hamilton Jct and Canpa. I would guess those boxcars came from either Oshawa or Oakville possibly.

True. Early to mid 1990′s trains had geeps… i’d trust what was on the slide! The leaser certainly indicates a mainline train as these were rarely used on locals.

“526″ was written on slide ahead of the loco numbers. Checked in train# section of 1994 & 1996 Trackside Guides, but not listed. However 521-522 are NF-Toronto and Toronto-NF trains, same as 523-524.

This looks like the ham turn, it often carried a couple parts cars well into the early 2000′s but I have no idea where to/from.
