Comments on: Riding into the sunset, a pair of GMD-1′s growl as only a GMD-1 can, as the hogger has ‘em in Notch 8 as they’re on the mainline and the track speed is 60 MPH, dammit, and they’re going to get back to Aldershot doing as much of that track speed as they can. In mere months the GMD-1 era will end as the units will be parked, and since then we’ve all feared the worst. CN has made the final move though, all of the parked GMD-1′s are now for sale, and while some may have a future on other shortlines or industrial railways, hearing them on the CNR mainline echoing across the Niagara Escarpment in the Milton/Burlington area will be but a distant memory.
