Comments on: Running around an hour and a half early, VIA 6432 is on point of VIA train #2 “The Canadian” from Vancouver as it traverses the remaining couple miles of the Bala Sub in the Don Valley before it’s early arrival at Union Station. Although virtually impossible to see, there is a faded mile marker on the right hand side indicating that this point is also Mile 209 of the CP Belleville Sub, however this portion has been abandoned since 2009.

Hi Liam, very nice picture ! Great composition, like the way you included the CTC signal for Rosedale Siding, the northbound speed sign, the Park car coming out of the curve in the background and the Riverdale Park footbridge, and even a glimpse of the Prince Edward viaduct. Nice to see VIA in practically all GO train territory. Interesting comment about the semi-hidden mile post on CP’s Belleville Sub; track is still there under all the brush and overgrowth, and I believe the Ontario government acquired this section of the line north to Leaside, where CP removed the joining switch. If VIA is successful with its higher speed rail line to Smith Falls via Peterborough, then one day we may see VIA inter-city train sets scooting by this location. Thanks for sharing.
