Comments on: Running out the last few days of streetcar service on Rogers Road, TTC PCC 4549 heads eastbound on Rogers Road at Gilbert Avenue, passing a local “GAS” service station and either an attendant or customer attending to a car being fueled. Another TTC 4500-series (A8-class CC&F) PCC follows close by, ducking under the CNR Newmarket Subdivision bridge on a Rogers (to Wychwood – carhouse return) run. The last streetcar would run on Rogers Road three days later on July 19th 1974, and the route would be replaced by trolleybuses.

TTC 4549 would fair a little bit better. It would soldier on into the 1980′s until the A8-to-A15-class rebuild program, and become one of two PCC’s the TTC restored to their original paint/appearance (and kept their old numbers, 4500 and 4549, unlike others renumbered into the rebuilt 4600-series). Both remaining 4500′s would be retained by the TTC as part of its historical fleet after the others were sold or donated in the mid-90′s.

Nifty, there is one of those Courtesy & Service bridges. It appears to be a type 8 using the CNRHA ID system. There are 12 different versions of these bridges.
The little vent that is open below the drivers window, would that be for a little extra air movement for the driver? Anything extra on hot days would be welcome. :-)

Great scene and lighting. Neat detail of the old behind the license plate tank.

Bruce and Dan: if it’s the same seller I’ve dealt with it’s Bob Estien of Buffalo. Goes by amangold200 I believe.

Bruce: there was a fellow online selling some slides from his collection, or some slides that he had traded/sold off in the past.
