Comments on: Saltair at mileage 54.5 on CP’s E&N Victoria subdivision on Vancouver Island, midway between Chemainus and Ladysmith, had a 24-car siding on the west side up to and including timetable 96 of 1971-04-25, but timetable 97 of 1971-10-31 showed it as “nil” and Saltair disappeared from record in timetable 92 of 1973-10-28. A few years later, clear evidence of the siding remained as a Nitinat log train (Crown Zellerbach loads from Lake Cowichan to Ladysmith) with GP9s 8668 and 8613 headed north on Friday 1975-03-07.

So unusual to us Easterners. I have never seen (or guess I never will) a CP powered log train before.
