Comments on: SAVED BY ST.JOHN’S. Thanks to the hard work of the Railway Coastal Museum, the Johnson Foundation and the City of St. John’s, NF110 #906 has been given a third lease on life. Originally located in Bowring Park after being taken out of service, it fell into disrepair due to both vandalism and neglect. It has been beautifully restored to it’s original green and gold scheme and along with RPO 1805 and Coach 763 (former NR # 46), sits outside the Victorian era granite station, now home to the RCM. Built by GMD in 1953 as one of nine of the series, the only other surviving sisters are 900 – located at Clarenville, and 902 -located at Lewisporte. The 906 had the honour of being one of three diesels which brought the last eastbound ‘Caribou’ into this very spot on the early morning of July 3, 1969.
