Comments on: Sd40-2 6018 is in off a work train for some needed repairs. It’s spotted on the track where GE engine overhauls are performed. That’s a GE air compressor in front of it’s rear truck and the engine lifting device on the adjacent track on a trolley.

I have seen them in recent years powering all sorts of assignments so they aren’t exclusively on work trains iirc

You are right Colm it was in Sudbury, that’s just the lingo I hear mentioned about these SD’s that they’re used mainly for work trains.

I’m 95% sure this old girl was on switcher duty up here in Sudbury for the last 3+ months, until this past week when she dissappeared amd was replaced by an SD60. Guess this solves that question!
