<title>Comments on: Sitting up on my favourite perch at Dundas, overlooking the remnants of the Canada Crushed Stone facility (closed 1974) I actually was treated to sunshine. VIA 6903 (with 6918 trailing)is looking good running westbound. Unfortunately, looks can be deceiving. The LRC-2 (6900-6920) and -3 series (6921-6930) from Bombardier proved to be a form of rolling lemons, and they did not last all that long from their building dates of 1982/83. This particular unit (6903) was sold to Diesel Electric in 2006 after being on the shelf for quite some time. The 6918 trailing was sold to CAD Rail Services in 2002.
The line in the lower right led to the Steetley Dolomite business and was pulled up in 1985.</title>

<description>When VIA was done with 6903 it went to Diesel Electric Services in Sudbury where it underwent some major modifications including narrow gauge trucks, and a new paint scheme as evidenced in these photos I snapped on May 29, 2007. http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=5639

Ex-VIA 6903 never made it to its intended new destination (Nouvelle Esperance) as I witnessed the same unit at the same location in Sudbury on June 21, 2018 and it had been dismantled leaving only the main frame and trucks. :-(</description>
