Comments on: Sometimes the planets really do align. 254 went down the hill into the CTC, 247 got an “after” clearance, then 435 was done with its work at Aldershot and was told to “blast off.” With as much train and as little power, the crew remarked that there would be no blasting. 2446 and 2124 were labouring to get the train going, the 4705 was just along for the ride. Amidst the leaf free winter forest, we saw headlights. Then we saw headlights again. “Wait,” we said, “are those two sets of headlights? There’s no way this is happening.” And then it happened. CP 8743 and 8034, labouring themselves to get CP 247 moving after having waited for 254 to clear Desjardins, passed over 435 which was absolutely struggling to keep moving. Neither train would have been doing more than 15 miles an hour, and this was definitely to our benefit. An excellent turn of events to cap off 2020. All the best for 2021!
