Comments on: SOR 595 slowly approaches the Haldimand Road 3 crossing in Nanticoke Ontario with RLHH 3404, RLHH 3049 and RLHH 3403. They have three cars for the US Steel Lake Erie Works which is located right behind the photographer. The crew would wye their power within US Steel before emerging to begin building their train for Paris.

The lack of dynamic brakes, and I believe the cab condition, would be the reason 3049 ends up in the middle often.

I hear Tuesday is the first day of G&W heading down to Ingenia.

No units in Hagersville anymore, they abolished 596 a little over a year ago now...that would be the unit that would be parked there regularly. Though there is speculation now that since SOR is reportedly going to be running down the Burford Spur in Brantford to Ingenia that 596 may be reinstated. From what I have heard it would go back to being the road switcher from Hagersville to Brantford during the week. Not sure if it would be a daily job or not. Guess we'll have to wait and see!

I would imagine they put the 3049 as the middle unit cause it does not have a dynamic brake. With the sd's on each end, this allows the crew to utilize it on the Paris turn at night. Although I'm just speculating. Joe, any units sitting around in Hagersville these days? Or has that job been abolished?

Nice to see you found some sun. They must not like switching with 3049, it seems to keep ending up in the middle of the consist. I think those cars go to ESM, which is beside US Steel.
