501/709 combined for at total of 13,000 ton and 7000′ taking nearly 9 minutes to cross the Grand River in Caledonia and powered by 4 6-axel units. Slaps go to Toledo, OH as well.

lots happening on the Hagersville subdivision these last few weeks in particular. Yes, a few coil cars continue to roll but the focus now being the slab trains … U708 inbound and U709 outbound. Briquetted iron comes on 502 in NS gons. Monday, July 13, 2026 was a banner day on the sub with 4 CN trains and 317 rail cars of differing descript. The longest / heaviest train (probably ever) last week consisted of 501/ 709

Aitch – I’m not sure of the coil car volumes, there seems to be empties daily on L502. I take notice of inbound loads next visit. Lots of tanks.

Paul – Creosote mixed in with diesel exhaust, that new wood will be under the rails soon.

Love those Hagersville Sub shots ! Does Stelco move a lot of coil traffic via rail ? Now that they’re owned by Cliffs, I was wondering if they get inbound hot briquetted iron from Cliff’s Toledo plant (?)
