Comments on: Still another in this station series: Capreol was an important railroad town, having been the headquarters for CN’s Northern Ontario operations since 1961. It’s division point status took on even greater importance in the 1970s as the railroad closed down many stations and centralized more system operations. VIA, former in 1978, utilized this station, but realizing it was far too big a structure for their needs, had a new “VIA Style” building designed and it was constructed here, replacing the station pictured. In this 1981 scene on the left is the Terminal building (1961) and the Communications Centre (1959) and the old station, which was built @1915 and demolished 1985.
