Comments on: Streetsville has long played a part in my Railfaning life. It has always been my closest location when it comes to photographing CP. Often after college I would take the long route home trough Streetsville just in case anything was around. I soon discovered the local that served local industries here. Originally a single MLW based at Guelph Junction, later it was relocated to West Toronto where it is still located today. Back in the early 2000’s the local was still running daily, Monday to Friday. The ADM Mill was still a big customer for CP in those days, served almost daily and often twice on Wednesday’s, even occasionally served on Saturday’s. Here is one of those rare Saturday runs, dodging winter shadows as it heads back to the mainline. While the spur to the mill wasn’t long it was somewhat scenic travelling trough a tunnel of trees, clinging to the hillside above the Credit River on part of a route proposed so long ago by “booth” when he proposed the Credit Valley Railway follow the River to a connection with the Great Western Railway (now CN) at Port Credit. Although the route was rejected this short spur gives you an idea of what could have been. Unfortunately the more recent years have not been good for ADM’s mill. A change in shipping found the mill totally end rail service and even trucks to the mill don’t seem as frequent. Today the spur has been severed from the mainline and is now badly overgrown. Only time will tell if a revival will ever come.
