I was reminded of the Guess Who’s classic hit song ‘Runnin’ Back to Saskatoon’ as the ‘Canadian’ arrived some 11 hours late and through a fierce Prairie blizzard to Saskatoon on January 30, 2018. During our quick stop to refuel the engines, some passengers – including the photographer and his wife- decided to walk about in the -20C temperature but quickly re-boarded to enjoy a hot coffee in the warmth of the dome car ‘Glacier Park’. With the rear of the train barely visible through the snow, the blustery wind and the freezing temperature of that frigid morning quickly brought about a desire for the long hot days of a Saskatchewan summer.
