Comments on: Sun playing tricks on me. OSR has strong plans to cease operations down CN’s Cayuga Sub by the end of the month meaning today as of April 9th 2020, will be its second out of fifth run as they operate the Tilsonburg job Thursday’s only. It’s truly crazy to know the history of rail lines and what traversed them in the past, this location is really one of them though that stands out as it was the scene of the diamond with the CASO and Cayuga Subdivisions. And now the only rail line that’s left in the scar of the busy diamond is coming to an end so thankfully, the sun cooperated for a nice scene with the refurbished caboose placed in between the 2 once busy lines. They crossed just behind this shot and you can still see the signal mast for the Wabash searchlight signal just behind the 2 SW 1200’s. The mast is now repainted and touched up in a bad way. At least in my opinion. The Cayuga Clipper will continue its slow run east towards Aylmer and Tilsonburg spotting on the way in Aylmer at the local ethanol industry. It would be unfortunate if all customers shut down as OSR ceases operation meaning the line is useless so it will most likely be torn up but who knows yet. The Wabash got their first road diesels in 1950 and was completely diesel by 1953. The Coal tower was built around 1943/44 so only used maximum 9 years by the Wabash. Again, would have been built by CN..

Thought if the tower was built in the 30's it would've been primarily for the Wabash and built by them too. Interesting stuff none the less. Assumed they were from the Wabash era from their rust / age all over the masts. Didn’t know CN signalled the line as well in that time period. Just a small note is all the infrastructure on the line including the signals and track was / is CN not Wabash. Wabash paid for maintenance as per the agreement but CN maintained @everything@ track wise. Very cool. And well done.
