Surprisingly in this hobby this is often the hard part. For the youngins, this terminal was built in 2003, new. There was nothing here before other than that house in the background and the mainline which is now the terminal operators office. Dial back 60 years and there were stations at Breslau and Mosborough once upon a time, but they are a half mile to a mile in either direction. Despite this being “Shantz Station” road I don’t think there was ever a station here. According to Waterloo archives when the Grand Trunk built their line in 1856 through Waterloo Township the farm of a Mennonite family was located along here. The family, Samuel Y. Shantz, his wife Esther and their 12 children lived here from 1846-1867 (they then sold the farm and moved to a new farm in North Dumfries Township). When the GTR built the line it was laid through the Shantz farm, the plan was to build a station and grow a community from there. Nothing was built other than a post office, closing in 1863.
