OK I think what you are referring to was just the CP SSI (System Special Instruction) to CROR 132 (BREVITY, CLARITY, PRONUNCIATION AND RETENTION)(b) which reads in part “In addition, when the communication is required to be in writing, station names will be pronounced and then the first three letters stated”. But this is not an authorized abbreviation like Sdg (Siding), or Swt (Switch) or a name in it’s self.

@Mattwatson I do believe the plant at Guelph Junction is called GUE, or at least an abbreviation of the two. I have heard that in the past over clearances as well as other railfan’s giving that name to the junction. If I am wrong however from that please let me know.
