Comments on: Testing…. 1, 2, 3. Testing…. CN ‘Test Track Evaluation System’ car #1501 heads westbound along the VIA Chatham Subdivision while occupying the farm crossing at MP 83.46. CN 1501 was originally a CN RDC-1, numbered D-108 when built in 1958 for passenger service. CN renumber the car to CN 6108 in March 1969 and it later became VIA 6108 in March 1978. CN later acquired it from VIA but it was rebuilt into a rail test vehicle and was in service as CN 15016 in 2010. From what I have read it was quickly renumbered to CN 1501 due to CN’s dispatching software only accepting four digit numbers for a locomotives.
