Comments on: The 0800 Yard Job had just crossed over the diamond at Irondale, and is about to cross Birmingham Street as it continues eastward to grab cars from the interchange – a trip necessitated by the need to lift some Toronto Tank Lines (TTL) cars they needed to build the train for the evening crew’s trip over to Eastport. If you squint hard enough, you can see RP contributor/moderator Michael Da Costa in the engineer’s seat. Aside from Michael, you can also see a severed rail into Air Liquide. I have heard that there are plans to reinstall this switch.

It's the lead at Stelco that goes way past the spot and pull tracks. The three tracks that are used to spot and pull the Stelco cars, further down it turns into one track and wraps around to the left of Stelco and end behind MANA. MANA was thinking of using that track to offload or load freight cars from the ships. The track was inspected last fall by Allied.

Which Stelco tracks? West side of what's now MANA or down on the east side? Referring to the diagram linked below:

https://www.stcatharinesstandard.ca/news-story/9640711-stelco-moving-ahead-with-bayfront-land-redevelopment-plans/

There's a former Stelco building on the far east side of the Stelco property being rebuilt by Eastern Construction for the last 2 years, (1133 Industrial Drive) it's completely severed from the rail network though. This is called the "ponderosa lands. Then MANA has a potential site even deeper (and fenced off, can't get to it yet). Both were sold off for re-development by Stelco. The Port seems interested in a lot of this too but i'm not actually sure if they have their hands in any of it yet.

And yes thank you for the neat tips.

Parkdale Warehouse also wants a 4th switch a week with 3 in and 3 out, but they can't comit to that if they can't get their 4th switch. Mana is busy now, and also heard there was talks to have rail business on those tracks that go all the way in the back of Stelco.

LOL - redeemed. That would be nice to see, been almost 10 years since Dofasco used rail over there. Would be neat if they used their switchers to switch the place as they did until 2012! (with running rights from Bayfront to Central Shipping)

It's interesting how many customers have come back to rail - Triple Metal is taking a crap ton of cars at Strathearne, at the former "Metal and Thermite Corporation" facility (owned by American Can, built in 1961) after years of their switch being dormant.

I better redeem myself...Dofasco was also in talks to having service down by the Kenilworth yard. Plan was to ship product out west. There, even Steven :)
