Comments on: The “after dinner” train, we called it; VIA #77 stopped at Burlington West station facing westward. Good late sunshine in the summer. Rather unusual power combination tonight, VIA 6919 and CN 4360. The LRC is history, the GP rebuilt to CN 7254 some years ago. Back when I was a scrawny trainwatcher, Burlington West was the community of Freeman. Like most villages in the area, it has vanished.

Yes, that must have been an entertaining run. Times have changed so much; anything like that in the past conjures up some great memories.
Nothing seems to be the adventure it once was. Perhaps it is because we are all getting older.

What an interesting smattering of head end power and coaches. Anything but dull back in the day Mr. Mooney! I was fortunate to ride a complete LRC trainset from Toronto to Montreal in October 1988.

Ya know, CTP., this location brings back some of the fondest memories. No matter how warm the summer day was, it was best being out after 5PM and a visit to the station (even though I lived in St. Kitts at the time)always enabled me to see some great passenger trains in #75 and #77 stopping here. One had to be on guard, though, for fast westbound freights coming off the Halton (two closest tracks on the left. Of course now crossing tracks is a no-no, but those days we did not have a problem, even with RR personnel around.
