Comments on: The Canada Southern depot in Waterford. It was around this time that the town was going to replace the overpass on Old Hwy 24. The discussions began with CN, as rumours floated that CN would use the line again to haul the ‘double stacks’. If CN did, then the new overpass would be built higher in elevation to accommodate the trains. However, it was just that. Rumours. The new bridge was built, and shortly after the last remaining track through Waterford was removed.

this project was initiated by CP as they were in talks with OMERS to finance a new double stack tunnel at Windsor . that fell thru of course but the new bridge at $2 mil was constructed anyway at the municipality's expense. Why would CP care ,wasn't their money.
We got a wonderful up and over nothing bridge

I had meant to state the numerous businesses that have occupied the old station. When I took this photo, a church was using the station...it was known as the "Gathering Place". The church had folded, and at one point there was a daycare provider using the station....and that was short lived (maybe for one summer). And yes, it is Quilt Junction now...and still serves as such.

I gather this old station is still functioning as a Quilt Shop? Background building on the left is an Antique market where a friend of mine peddles model railroad stuff for me. Waterford is quite the quaint community, but unfortunately 'urban sprawl' is even beginning to affect this area.
