Comments on: The Canadian Pacific Woodstock station operator, still using wooden hoops, hoops up orders to a westbound freight in the Summer of 1969. The fireman leaning out the cab of CP RS10 8471 bites down on his pipe, as he concentrates on grabbing the hoop with the head end’s train orders on the fly.

I'm not sure if Earl ever worked at Woodstock, but I wonder if the operator isn't Ray Riordan later to become a dispatcher (RSR). The "fireman" might in fact be Engineer Herb Pilon who's on the left side of the cab because the fireman is taking a turn running the engine.

That's a perfectly timed shot of hooping up the orders. Did that a few times myself and missed once when an 8900 Train Master was leading.
