Comments on: The carcass of #52 (GMD type NW-2) sits on Death Row near the Chatham Street roundhouse. Internet research shows that she was built in January, 1948. It wouldn’t be until 05/88 that she was sent to Atlas Steel in Welland to be scrapped.

Meanwhile, the plow looks ready to do battle with the next blizzard.

IIRC, 52 was stuck in limbo when CP cut the rebuild budget for TH&B's NW and SW units. They did about 2 units, and 52 was halfway through before the program was nixed. The shop forces eventually put it back together, but I think it didn't run long before suffering some other failure that sidelined it for good. CP didn't want to pour any money into rebuilding the old and too small TH&B NW & SW fleet, so most were retired and sold for scrap.

Interesting view from nearly 40 years ago. I should have been taking pictures back then. There were so many fascinating things and places now gone.
