AC technology has seemingly reduced the challenge, although I have witnessed pairs of GE’s down to less than 5mph trying to drag tonnage unimaginable in the old days up the hill. Today’s 137 is something of a rocket, although I think the blowers were helping keep the leaves off the rails as 8753 and BNSF 7407 make great time getting up the hill.
