Comments on: The days of endless motor car sheds, section houses, tool houses, outhouses and all that were once along the right-of-ways have vanished. It seemed like every railroad station was surrounded by these structures. I don’t think many like this one survived into the 2000s. I would call this a CPR Broom Closet, as it is a little bit too thin for an outhouse. When you think of it, it is rather surprising the railroad would even go thru the bother of such a building; and this must have been pretty well the last of its era in Southern Ontario. It used to sit near the west end switches at Guelph Jct. I had marked my photo as it being at “mile 41.3″. Probably just a guess. Amusing piece of history. I wish I could have brought it home. No idea why.

It's no longer there because someone leaned a third broom against it and it toppled over.
