It’s been accorded prime real estate right in the middle of the climate controlled Angus Pavilion, so I would say it’s being very well taken care of at this point. They even bumped an MLW FPA-4 to place it here!

I do hope Exporail takes better care of the D. of C. than they did before. A lot of essential restorative work was done in England – at no cost to Exporail – and the loco looks splendid. It belongs in Canada, though, as it was a gift from British Rail circa 1966. British Rail didn’t want it and it was marked for scrap. I didn’t get a chance to see all six A4s when they were on display in England in 2013, but I did see the Dominion of Canada, Dwight Eisenhower and Mallard on display at York. Separately I saw the three other A4s hauling excursion trains.

I understand the significance of the locomotive, but I really believe both it and the “Dwight Eisenhower” should have remained in Britain, where restoration would have made them far more appreciated. Sister’s “Mallard” and “Union of South Africa” already reside at home.

Hmm, i can understand its Halloween, but I think it might be in poor taste to show a this kind of decoration.
