Comments on: The fall colours are beginning to kick in around Parry Sound. That’s one of the reasons for the visit to this lively community of 6,000 people. The main reason, of course, is to see trains. I’m on the south side of the tracks by the entrance to the small Parry Sound CP yard and grabbing a pic of CP 5904, 5721 heading toward Toronto. So much has changed. It is but a single track thru here now. The station, now repurposed, can be seen in the background.

These just bring back memories, although I never saw a train from this spot. But I remember driving up 69 and seeing a CN Sw switching the Esso siding with its little wooden trestle south of town. I don’t think I ever saw CN in town as a kid…..but that bridge….. and later sitting, with the operator getting the lowdown on what was coming. It also comes with a healthy amount of butt kicking for not spending more time there…something I crave now.
