These unusual appearing locomotives are actually an SW1200RS switcher in a GP 9 shell, remanufactured with GP main generators, cooling fans and other such parts mated with the SWs, resulting in a model known as SW1200RM. The production took place at Pointe St. Charles main shops in the mid-’80s, and the units were sold off to CANAC in 2000.
